Donationstation

The Donation
Station

has been re-constructed for 2010!

After listening to our community partners and you, the congregation, the Reach Out commission decided it was time for a change to revitalize the donation station.

Instead of collecting a little bit at a time, for many organizations at a time, we are going to focus on one ministry each month. We believe by focusing our efforts-we can actually do more for our community!

Each month, you will find communications in the bulletin, website, donation station bins and through other means. The current needs and information about that month’s organization will be featured. Every three months, we will have a huge month-long food drive. The food donations will be split among the organizations or areas of most need.

We really feel this may help to revitalize the donation station, and create re-newed interest and excitement.

Collection for August:

LUMINA School Uniform Bank at Pearl Street UMC:

The School Uniform Bank has existed since 2001, shortly after the School District of Lancaster began requiring all students in grades K-8 to wear uniforms to school. The  Uniform Bank has served approximately 1,800 students each year, providing, on average, two sets of uniforms for each child. This ministry coordinates with the School District of Lancaster Homeless Student Program.

The uniform guidelines are:
Tops: White, navy or light blue, collared button-front shirts or blouses, turtlenecks, collared polo shirts.
Bottoms: Navy or tan – for girls, slacks, cargo-style pants, skirts, skorts, shorts, capris or jumpers; for boys – slacks, cargo pants or shorts.
Overclothing: White, navy or light blue, cardigans, V-neck, crewneck and turtleneck sweaters or sweater vests
Clothing of all sizes from age K-8 are needed.
Clothing can be new or gently used,  or we can also accept monetary contributions, which can provide new uniforms. The cost of one uniform is approximately $20.

We are also still collecting for the Garden Harvest Ministry:

Donations of fresh fruits and vegetables, home-grown or purchased will continue through September.
