Hempfield UMC Is a Safe Sanctuary

The congregation of Hempfield UMC is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children, youth, vulnerable adults and volunteers who participate in ministries and activities sponsored by the church.

The following statements reflect our congregation’s commitment to preserving this church as a holy place of safety and protection for all who enter:

•All staff and adult volunteers supervising children, youth or vulnerable adults have had background checks and clearance in accordance with PA Child Protective Services Law;

•All adult volunteers supervising children, youth or vulnerable adults have been active in the life of the congregation for at least six months;

•All adult volunteers supervising or assisting in church sponsored activities involving children, youth or vulnerable adults have attended a Safe Sanctuary training course provided by the church;

•All staff and volunteers are required to immediately report any behavior suspected to be abusive or inappropriate;

•All church sponsored activities involving children, youth or vulnerable adults observe a “two-adult rule” policy.
