KIDS KONNECTION
Praise God … we have our teachers in place for elementary KK this year. A big thanks goes out to all who stepped up to share their gifts and talents that God has given them. We could still use, however, a few people to help out with 1. signing kids in on Sunday mornings (9:40 – 10:10 a.m.); or 2. supervising our game time from 9:45 – 10:00 a.m. while the teachers pray together and get ready to go. If you can help in either of those capacities one Sunday per month, please contact Nancy Herman at nherman@hempfieldumc.com.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
The UMW will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., in Room 124.
Care Ministry wants to THANK the families that donated much needed school supplies for children going back to school at the end of the month. Your generosity helped families experiencing financial difficulty and finding it hard to purchase all the necessary items needed for their children. They are so grateful, and we see God’s work being done by you. If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, there is still time and there is still a need. Please visit the Care Ministry Wish Tree in the lobby and pick a “frog” from the tree that lists items needed. We also want to remind you that if your children are in need of school supplies, please contact the care office. We can help! 285-5156 x 222. Thank You!

CARE PACKS FOR THE ORPHANS IN KENYA
Want to put a care package together to send to kids in Wachara, Kenya? Seven people, including Pastor John, will be going over to Africa at the end of August to personally hand-deliver the care packages, meet the people of Hope UMC and spend time with the children involved with Life for Children Ministry. Toiletries are much needed, but not frequently available in Wachara and are very expensive, so you would be helping to meet the needs of the orphans, and help share the love of Jesus. Please pick up the care pack list at the Building Hope table. Deadline has been extended to Friday, Aug. 20.

MEN AT THE CROSS
A group of guys from our church will be attending the local Men At The Cross event at Calvary Church on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Jack Richards has discounted tickets available for $25 (deadline is Aug. 16). Contact him at 464-2753 if you are interested in attending. Send him a check payable to Hempfield UMC at 86 Locust Lane, Willow Street, PA 17584 to reserve your ticket.

HEMPFIELD AREA FOOD PANTRY – LANDISVILLE
Volunteers are needed on Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. to help set up, clean up, greet, register, pack food, help clients take boxes of food to their car, and other duties. This is an excellent opportunity to build relationships and show the love of Christ through serving those in time of need. This is also a great opportunity for high school students to serve in the community. Please sign up at the Welcome Center in our lobby or contact Karlie Valle at ckvalle@comcast.net or 717-898-3986.

EAT AND RAISE $$ FOR BUILDING HOPE

WOMEN OF FAITH
Carol Hulstine has group rate tickets available for the Women of Faith Over the Top event in Philadelphia, Sept. 10-11. The cost for a ticket is $89 and includes two box lunches. Contact Carol at tchulstine@comcast.net or 290-6880 for more information. Visit blog.hempfieldumc.com to see a preview video for the weekend.

UMW
The United Methodist Women will hold their annual indoor picnic on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Spirit Cafe. Each person attending is asked to bring a salad, casserole or dessert for the buffet. Following the meal, there will be a time of fellowship and games. A cordial invitation is extended to the women of the church to be part of this fun-filled evening.

MEN AT THE CROSS
Contact him at 464-2753 if you are interested in attending. Send him a check payable to Hempfield UMC at 86 Locust Lane, Willow Street, PA 17584 to reserve your ticket.

EAT AND RAISE $$ FOR BUILDING HOPE
Eat at Isaac’s Deli on Centerville Road on Thursday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 9 p.m. and 25 percent of your bill will benefit our mission trip to Wachara, Kenya. AND, eat at Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Lititz on Sunday, Aug.15, from 12-6 p.m. and 25 percent of your bill will benefit Building Hope, too! Copies of the fliers you will need to present when you pay your bill (valid for dining in or for take-out) are available at the Building Hope table in the lobby.

PASTOR JOHN’S PRINTS
Pastor John will be selling prints of some of his artwork to benefit Building Hope. You can see his paintings and purchase prints in the Spirit Cafe today.

DONATION STATION FOR AUGUST
The LUMINA School Uniform Bank at Pearl Street UMC has served approximately 1,800 students each year, providing, on average, two sets of uniforms for each child in the School District of Lancaster’s homeless students program. You can help by providing new or gently used uniform clothing this month. In addition, we are still collecting fresh vegetables and fruits through September for the Garden Harvest ministry. Stop by the donation station to pick up the list of clothing for the uniform bank.

The Christian faith is more than a series of doctrinal affirmations; it is a life we are called to live. There is a common adage, “You must walk the walk before you can talk the talk.” In his letter to the Ephesians, Saint Paul describes what the walk of faith in Jesus Christ is like, and how living an authentic life in Jesus Christ is the most powerful witness. Join us for our month of family worship services in which we will explore the journey of genuine faith.

August 8 Walk in Grace Ephesians 1:1 – 2:10
August 15 Walk in Unity Ephesians 2:11 – 3:20
August 22 Walk in Holiness	Ephesians 4:1 – 5:20
August 29 Walk in Submission Ephesians 5:21 – 6:9
