Voices of Christmas the Movie

For the first time, Sight & Sound Theatres® has adapted an original stage production to the big screen! Voices of Christmas, the Movie is an exhilarating journey through the many treasured traditions of Christmas and most memorable events in Christmas history.

Lay witness to the first nativity, Drummer Boy, Scrooge, the origin of the song “Silent Night”, a 1940s radio broadcast, the 1914 cease fire on Christmas Eve and many more! Voices of Christmas, the Movie is a sparkling reminder of why we celebrate these beloved traditions!

HCN provides a safe facility where qualified young Haitians can earn an on-line 2-year degree, with practical internship opportunities and concluding with job placement assistance. It is a proven program with 20 students, but in such high demand that we want to fund expansion to serve 80 students by 2012…in addition to covering current operating expenses.

House of His Creation Benefit | Dec. 2

House of His Creation is hosting a benefit at the Mulberry Art Studios, 19 Mulberry St. Lancaster, PA, on Friday, Dec. 2, from 7 p.m.-midnight. There will be blues and swing dancing, hand-crafted desserts, and live entertainment from Dixieland jazz group Sac Au Lait of Baltimore.

The evening will start with a beginner East Coast Swing lesson at 7 p.m., followed by four hours of open dance and delicious refreshments, all under the twinkling holiday lights of the Mulberry Studio Loft. The cost is $10 at the door. All proceeds will go to benefit House of His Creation, a non-profit, Christian ministry that provides housing and programming for single, young women who are pregnant and/or parenting.

Festival of Hope | Dec. 4

Sunday, Dec. 4, at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 N. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA (parking is available on the adjacent streets, as well as at the Duke Street garage). The service begins at 3 p.m.

Some of the local artists performing include Amy Yovanovich, soprano, and Stephanie McCullough, violin. In addition, St. James’ Director of Music Ron Barnett will direct the Festival of Hope Massed Choir, a group made up of choir members from various churches throughout Lancaster County. The Festival Choir will sing three selections during the service: Jesus Christ, the Apple Tree by Elizabeth Poston, Remember, O thou man by Thomas Ravenscroft and Let all mortal flesh keep silence, arranged by Stephen Cleobury. For any interested singers, the rehearsal of the Festival Choir will be Saturday, Dec. 3, at 9 a.m. at Saint James Church. The rehearsal will conclude by 11:30 a.m.

There will be an offering to benefit LCCC’s Homeless Winter Overflow Project for Women & Children.

Featured guest artist, Sherrie Strange-Pratt, New York soprano, will join the choir to bring you a delightful selection of Christmas music. An offering will be received.

Directed by Darlene Hein and Rosemary Siegrist Blessing, the 110-voice choir involves singers in grades 2-12. The choir’s mission is to train children and youth to glorify Jesus Christ through excellent choral singing.

Christmas in the Country | Nov. 12

Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ, 1850 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster will hold its annual “Christmas in the Country” holiday bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There is no admission to this juried craft fair and food fest. More than 50 juried craft persons will provide a variety of original crafts. The crafters for the juried show have been chosen for the wide selection and exceptional quality of their respective crafts.
