CARE MINISTRIES – MAY
Hempfield UMC specializes in hospitality! If you know in advance that you will be hospitalized or are having medical tests, Care Ministry would like to be made aware of your situation so that we may begin prayer on your behalf and better minister to your needs.  It is our wish to partner with you on your journey.  Our pastor of visitation will welcome the opportunity to pray with you before your surgery.  If a hospital visit is sudden or unplanned, you or a family member can inform the admissions office that you worship at Hempfield UMC so that they can contact us.  If a baby is on the way, please let us know so that we may share in the excitement and joy of this blessed event!

Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have received special training to provide one-to-one Christian care to those in our congregation and community who are experiencing grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss or other difficulties.  Stephen Ministers are trained to listen, care, encourage and provide emotional and spiritual support to those who are facing a crisis or are going through difficult times. The care received is confidential, free and very helpful.

If you or a friend could benefit from a hospital visit, special prayer time or a Stephen Minister’s care, or if you feel that God is calling you to become a Stephen Minister, please contact the Care Office by calling 717-285-5156, ext. 222.

To add to these numbers, a new Caring Stitchers ministry, Heavenly Hats, Scarves & Gloves, led by Fay Deibert (872-7132) is eager to recruit new team members. These knitters and crocheters make items that are given locally at our churches’ community meals held in the city six times yearly. To the parents and leaders who helped in so many different ways, thank you. It takes a huge team to pull off an event of this size, and we couldn’t have done it without you. God has surely blessed and will continue to bless many lives through this event. Remember, we will continue to collect donations through March 4.

FAMINE FACT
The average American family wastes 14 percent of their food purchases, yet worldwide, a child dies from hunger-related causes every 10 seconds. The good news is that World Vision can feed a starving child for an entire month with your $30 donation. Please support the SHOUT students financially and prayerfully, as they strive to “Overcome Hunger” during their 30 Hour Famine.

PRAYER PAGE
Our weekly blue Prayer Page lists the praises and prayer requests submitted through the prayer cards and online at hempfieldumc.com/prayer each week. This is also the place where we celebrate births, pay tribute to those who have gone on to be with the Lord and celebrate milestone anniversaries. When you see a red rose in worship it signifies a birth and a white rose signifies a loss. You can pick up a copy of the Prayer Page as you come in in the lobby each week.
